because of original sin we were in a state of open rebellion to God and His holy will, and so we were marked from birth with this sin of pride and rebellion.
but by our baptism we are cleansed of this original sin and even it`s stain and we are united in holy friendship with God and become members of the Body of Christ, and even more we also become potential heirs to the kingdom of God.

The most important answerer in this question would be what the Bible says...to often people rely on the thoughts of other, but the real question of this matter is what does the Bible say. If the Bible is not a significant source than baptism has no point. Baptism is for the believer, not for the opinionated sinner. I'm not undermining the opinions of others just stating that opinions and that specially of someone who doesn't even believe the Bible would most likely give an negative outlook. If I were you I would read the four gospels and the book of Acts...Especially the book of Matthew and Acts. Oh and the guy that say there is no dignity but only humility, in a since he is right....but I choose to say humble...no one is happy at funerals. Just read the special book...thats where all the answers are.

That is very difficult to answer because there are so many varied ideas about baptism, and also what you mean by the "dignity" of it. There are actually 9 different types of baptism mentioned in the Bible, John's Baptism, believer's baptism, Spirit baptism, Baptism into Moses, Baptism for the dead, baptism of fire etc. If you are talking about water baptism, which church, - I have done a lot of study on this in the past, but can't do much without knowing what you are looking for. If asll else fails, email me with more direct questions and I may be able to offer you a little insight.

There is no dignity, only humility. When a person is baptized it is only a ceremony. Nothing happens, except the person gets wet, some more than others. Baptism is something like a sign that one would wear. This sign says "I am saved". Just "having" the sign does not save you, it just declares that "you claim" you are saved.
When a person is baptized, they are ceremonially and publicly "washing" their "sins" off. The water can not remove sin, but it is symbolic of removing dirt form the body-like a bath. When a person is saved or born again, God has removed their sin, so they take a public bath to "signify" what God has done in their life.

Baptism is, according to the Bible, done by complete immersion into water. NOT sprinkling or pouring. It represents a burying of the old self, coming up out of the water, as a new and sinless person. We will still sin, but we have the forgiveness of God, and the Holy Spirit to help us to obey God and live the way Christ did.
The ritual of pouring or sprinkling is not Biblical. Reading the new testament account of Math, Luke, Mark and John, could give you some insight as to how Jesus views true Baptism. According to the Bible, which gives the accurate information about the subject, once a person is Baptized into Christ, we have made an important decision to follow Jesus, and shoud take it very seriously. Our Salvation is at stake, and we would want to try to be Christian, as best as we can.
Hope this helps.

Dignity has nothing what so ever to do with Baptism. Baptism is an outward sign to fellow believers that you are willing to follow Christ, to die to self (sin). The old man is going to the grave and you are a new man in Christ Jesus, thus your old habits and desires should have been laid to rest in that watery grave.

It is unfortunate that this does not happen (most of the time anyway) when people are baptized. They continue on with the way things where before baptism there refusal to follow Gods moral Law, refusal to put God first, the refusal to Love God above all others. Instead they continue their drinking, watch and doing things, such as, watching movies that have witchcraft in them, this would also include video games and books, they continue in their adulteress ways, which are an abomination unto God, they do not make straight paths unto the LORD.
They refuse to put away sin and Gods Moral Law is not written upon their hearts and minds as God has stated would happen to His people. They are not making themselves ready for the Second coming of the Son of God. They hold to false teachings like the prosperity message, humans have an immortal soul, speaking with the dead, the trinity(three gods in one) the 1st day is set aside for the worship of God instead of the day God Himself set aside for that purpose, they allow practicing homosexuals into the church and even have them as ministers, they allow women pastors and elders for which there is no Biblical support.

When one is baptize unto the family / body of Christ we are to put these things away, Remember that we will know them by their fruits. If one is truly baptized and has truly repented then he / she will put these things far away from themselves, they will die daily to these things (and many others) and live by faith in Christ Jesus.

Where does “dignity” fit into this picture, if you still have your dignity then did you truly die to self? NO!
