I had a relationship with a guy who seemed to be the nicest man on Earth; he was sweet, gentle, understanding, clever, loving, handsome and wellmannered; he always knew I'm not religious and he never seemed 2have a problem with that. Then 1 night we started talking about values, and he made the conversation shift to religion. He's Catholic, never told me he was such a strong believer though; I found out that very night when all of a sudden he began 2insult me, demean me and disrespect me. I had gone 2the other side of the world just 2see him, and in the 2days that followed that night he treated me so bad...as if I was the worst person in the whole world...the night b4 flying back 2my country, he told me he wouldn't have taken me 2the airport..he said goodbye 2me in a very cold way, didn't even shake my hand..suddenly all we had shared, all I had done 4him didn't mean anything anymore...Later on I asked him if our argument was just an excuse 2break up but he answered that religion was..

Can a relationship end because of religion? Absolutely it can. Two main reasons. One is more religious than the other or one is of a different religion than you are. This can cause friction as to core beliefs and how you want to potentially marry and live life. Soemtimes it can work, but most of the time it can cause problems. If you two can't come to consensus and meet halfway or one of you is unwilling to convert to the other's beliefs, then it is best you part ways.

Oh yes, sadly this can happen and it happened to me when I was about 19.

The guy was a Jehovahs witness and I am a Christian, he said his parents would never tolerate him being involved with me because of this. It was very sad because he was a wonderful guy and we really cared about each other. What really bothered me was that at his age, he was letting his parents dictate his relationship decisions, he was 21. Then one day we just didn't talk anymore. That was many years ago.

that man should have never treated you so badly, I am sorry for that.

we are all people, why does it have to matter what spiritual being we pray to?
