He was one of the toughest men to ever walk the streets of England. "The Guv'nor" as he was referred to after his third fight against "The Mean Machine" Rory Shaw in 1978 stopping him in the first round with eight unanswered straight right hands to the side of Shaw's head and face, I forgot to mention that this was a bare-knuckle boxing match.

He was in a few of Guy Ritchies movies and the roles he played didn't stretch too far from the truth. The very mention of "The Guv'nor" would indeed bring grown men to tears and on more than one occasion caused them top soil themselves.

He died of lung and brain cancer in July 1998.
