My engine is making sort of a knocking noise??? I don't know whats going on. All fluids are normal and I get regular oil changes. Now, in March I did have the alternator replaced and got a new battery. The knocking started about 2 months ago. My car does have a lot of miles...206,000. I tried checking some things myself and I noticed a hose not connected to something...could that be the problem? I posted this question yesterday but I failed to add that when the car sits in idle for a little while(like in a drive thru or long stop light) it starts to overheat a little...what's that all about?

Go to a AutoZone or a Nissan dealership and have them put it in the computer, they will say it wont work cuz the computer is for only year 96 n up but have them still do it and something will come up on the computer because they have almost the same engine computer set up. As for as the knockin goes, it could be the knock sensor, do some research and see what you get.

Have a mechanic look at your car. The engine is getting ready to fail. The timing belt may need replaced, this sounds like a timing issue.

relies upon on the difficulty of your engine. you ought to use any of those. the better the octane score the greater effective overall performance you get, greater effective mileage. yet greater effective overall performance could mean, shorter lifespan additionally. Leaded gasoline began being phased out interior the late 60's. Catatytic converters, which could basically burn unleaded gasoline, have been made needed in 1975, so as that exceptionally lots ended the production of leaded gasoline. So i might basically save it at 87oct. common oil substitute, and different fluid adjustments will help stretch its lifespan.
