I grew up, and my parents still live, on East Third Street in Brooklyn, which is between Avenues I and J.

We have spent (literally) hours with the Encyclopedia of the City of New York trying to identify the "official" designation of our neighborhood, but the boundaries of every possible candidate seem to end short of it. (We have checked Borough Park, Midwood, Flatbush, Gravesend, Kensington, Lakeville, Parkville and others.)

Can you help? Many thanks.

I thought it was Midwood but it might be the Kings Highway Area.

that's an rather risk-free, if no longer extraordinarily thrilling, area of Brooklyn. it is often residential, and the close by inhabitants has a tendency to be produced from households - often Orthodox Jews. it is not precisely the kind of going on place a youthful female could be attracted to. And it is extremely a schlep on the subway to get into ny. besides the undeniable fact that it is totally risk-free.

Coming from someone who grew up in Flatbush, he says "Parkville or Borough Park - most people would say Borough Park"

I don't know if that helps.
