I know this is long but...
You could use a conditioning balm or some kind of light moisturizer for your scalp before you straighten it. Make sure that you also use a heat protector of some form. You might also want to use the conditioner all over your hair. It also helps protect from the heat styling and keeps your scalp moisturized. You could rinse with cold water to close the hair shafts and prevent oil from penetrating and building up.If you want more volume to your hair, instead of using a flat iron I suggest using a ceramic blow dryer. I have naturally curly hair and this thing not only blows it out straight but gives my hair a healthy sheen and not an overwhelming amount of volume. Try Revlon's Ceramic Blow Dryer (you can use it on wet or dry hair but it's best not to comb or style hair when it's wet because the hair is more brittle and susceptible to damage) with attachments for about $20-25 depending on where you live. For your hair falling out, you should try wrapping a sating scarf around your head at night or buying a satin pillowcase. This will prevent breakage and help keep some of the shedding down. However, shedding is natural but if you notice more of it, it could be stress or a hormone imbalance. If you try the things above and they don't work, I would go to an affordable doctor (or clinic) and have a check up done.

if you have naturally curly hair, and you're always straighting it... its going to fall out or break off, because the heat is damaging it.
even if you have a really good flat iron.. ceramic ones are awesome, and still shouldn't be used every day or even every other day. You should also put a little "product" on your hair prior to straighting it...just a little something to protect it from the heat, nothing that's going to weigh it down, or make it look greasy. Stop by a salon and get a professional consultation... it's probably going to cost you...at least 50 bucks, but saving your hair is well worth the cost.. besides, you may just need a cut or style that would make you fall totally in love with your natural curly locks...keep in mind, some girls have to pay a lot to have chemicals added to give them the curls you already have. enhance what you have, and be thankful... straighten it on special occasions...when you want to look "extra" special

your problem could be overprocessing. straightenig naturally curly hair can be really bad for your hair, esp if you're doing it on a daily basis or even 2-3 times a week. I think you also need to consider that most likely the dryness of your scalp really doesnt have anything to do with the straightening of the hair, try using head and shoulders and if that doesnt help try Desonex, it should do the trick. As far as what shampoo to use for the dryness I would recommend Biolage.

Stop straightening your hair for a while. The damage (loss of hair) is coming from using too much heat and too often. Have you tried just wearing it back in a messy bun or ponytail with your curls? It'll look good.
It's a lot more noticable to see hair loss with straight hair than with curly hair, especialy if the curls are tighter. They just kind of entertwine with one another, so a hair or a few hairs may already have fallen out, but don't look like it because they're curled up with the rest of your intact hair.

You might be straitening it wrong, or maybe your straitner is junk.
Let me explain: Cheap straiteners don't get very hot, like only 250 degrees maybe. Do get the desired streaten that you want, you need to keep it on your hair for like 5 years and move down slowly. Which is bad, because hair dosen't like to take heat for an extended period of time.
A more expensive flat iron will get up to like 450 degrees. Since it is so hot, now you can go through the hair very quickly, so the hair is being exposed to extreme heat for a shorter amount of time. Hair can take this heat, just not for a long amount of time, but its fine because you can just go right through your hair strips faster.
your hair might be falling out because you are burning it.

My hair falls out all of the time, especially when I am straightening it. Which is like everyday! Maybe if you got a new style and new styling products you would like your curls more. Go to a good stylist.... not a cheap one, that is young and knows what looks good. Have her style your hair straightened for you, have her show you how to make it appear more full. She can also do conditioning treatments while you're there.

Maybe you should cut your hair shorter. The less hair there is, the less problems you'll have. And, if you buy a serum like Garnier Fructis: sleek and shine and put on wet hair then blow dry it, your hair won't be frizzy. It will just be shiny and curly! Good luck!

i think that what you should do is give your hair a little rest, hair needs that, it needs to be in its natural conditions, maybe if you try to wear it one week straight and the next curly that may help your hair and scalp regenerate, good luck!!
