I have a 12 year old daughter, and I think that 16 is a good age. My daughter is not mature enough to know what to do in adult situations. She is very mature, but I dont trust boys that are her age and older. She needs to be a kid.. and do kid things.. being in a relationship is an adult thing. I am not opposed to her having a BF, but in a supervised setting, and I would NEVER let her out of the house alone.. also the boy cannot be any older than one year more than her till she is 16 and then no older than 2 years after that till 18. She knows this and understands this. Kids are having sex WAAAAAAAAY too early these days, and getting pregnant doesnt just happen at 16 anymore. THere are kids out there that are 12,13,14 years old having babies.. I will not set my daughter up for that.

Every situation is different only you know the character of your daughter and how far she is willing to go if put in a situation, It would probably be wise although it may be hard to sit down with your daughter and ask her about this, it may be uncomfortable but in this situation preventative measures are necessary. If the male is older than I would say 14 or 15 then it would be very easy for him to take advantage of her and even if he is the same age. Make sure of where they are going how long they will be there and tell her to call or text you at certain intervals of the date. Ask about parent supervision and if they would consider a double date or a group date. These things in the long run will help put your mind at ease and still allow her to be your sweet innocent little girl.
I hope this helps, I am 19 and married (by choice not by having to if you catch my drift) so I know how these things work in this day and age.

I would let her hang out with friends that are boys in a supervised setting. Not just meaning I'm home so they can be anywhere. No closed doors or hanging out in the basement where I cant see them. And at that age it does not matter if they have other friends over as well. Things can still happen, they will just have an audience

it depends on how mature your daughter is and how much you trust her i was 15 when i started dating and my mother only let me date because i was mature and also it depends on how old the guys is that she is trying to date for example if her bf is over like 15 years old i wouldnt let her go out with him because he might only be looking for one thing and that can upset your daughter

i had my first boyfriend when i was in 5th grade, you need to let her grow, and it may seem hard to let your little girl grow up, but it's gonna happen someday. and it's not like she's going to be having sex when she is 13, if you make her wait then she is probably going to rebel and go off and do drugs, and be having sex. so let her date now, but make sure that things don't get too intense.
