My Fiance and I are going on a 4 night Royal Caribbean Cruise in a couple weeks, (our first) and I am not sure how much money to bring. We are moderate drinkers (about 4-6 for the whole day) and will probably spend a couple hundred in the casino, I don't really know how much alcoholic beverages are, and have not yet planned on purchasing any excursions (they didn't seem to interest me, as I live in Florida already and have done most of the beacy type stuff) We were planning on about $1000.00 for both of us?? Does this seem doable???

Thanks!

Yes, I plan on putting the cash on my debit card and using that?? Do we EACH need a credit card or just one for the both of us would be fine???

You give them a credit card when you check in and board. They give you a ship card. Anything you want, you hand over the ship card. In 1996 on Carnival drinks ran about $6-7, but they're huge and potent! We were on a 7 day cruise, and between drinking lots, shore excursions, pictures, and a few things from the gift shop, our bill came to near $800.

But we only went on one planned shore excursion which was around $30 per person at the time. The rest of the time we just wandered around with cash and another credit card. Come to think of it, that probably put us more near $1500 for the two of us between cab rides, meals, souveniers while on shore.

Anyway, it's better to be safe than sorry, and have a great time! It's a blast!

You probably don't have to bring that much for a 4 day trip, especially if you aren't going on any excursions or off the ship. All of your beverage purchases, including alcohol, will be charged directly to your room. (Even Excursions can be charged directly to your room!) All of those bills can be settled at the end of your cruise. If you are planning on paying in cash at the end of your trip, then you may want to bring that much with you. But, if you are planning on paying with a credit card, then I would just plan on bringing enough cash for the casino and for any shopping you may want to do at the ports. My husband and I went on a cruise last april and brough $1,200 for a 7 night cruise (And still had a few hundred left over!) Hope this helps and have a great time on your cruise!!

Doable, yes. Drinks are expensive and you might wind up using the spa or even going on an excursion, so maybe take more, just in case.

Have you checked with their policy on credit cards? The cruise I was on, a differnt line, kept track of everything and then you paid up at the end and you could use a credit card. Much safer in my opinion and not have to worry about losing so much cash. You could always take traveller's checks too.

Have a great time and enjoy yourself

I think you are going to need a credit card when you check in (I did on the Celebrity Cruise I took)...the cruise charges all drinks on that. Drinks are fairly expense. My suggestion, if you like mixed drinks...is to buy a bottle of something at your first stop and sneak it onto the boat. Then mix it with something they give to you for free (coke). That will at least cut down on your alcohol expenses.
You do need cash for the casino. 1000 seems like plenty, if you have that to spend.

I THINK a debit card is ok, as long as it has the Visa/Mastercard logo on it. (ie, it can be charged like a credit card.)

To be safe, I'd call the criuse line and ask them.

Call the Cruise Line, we went on a cruise for our honeymoon and the cruise line frowns on too much cash because of theft. We didn't gamble much but you will run a tab for drinks and you put anything you buy on your cruise ship account. I would take traveler's checks instead of cash as the Cruise lines have the ability to cash them as well has having ATMs.
