Why, if atheists and agnostics or whomever, don't believe in Christianity, do they insist on responding to questions directed to those who DO believe? Typically, their responses are demeaning and hateful and I just don't understand it. The same would apply to Christians responding to non-Christians. If it doesn't apply to us why not leave it alone? There's no reason to be caustic with people who don't think the same. No wonder there have been so many "holy" wars.

Thank you Yoda Green and Furry Scott for proving my point. I don't agree with guys who wear pink shirts. Does that mean I have to say something negative about them? NO. If it doesn't affect me, why do it. Maybe it's a maturity thing.

Knight_in_burnt _armor - I think you missed the whole point of the question. The question, in essence, is "why" not "how dare you". It's not about WHAT a person believes, it's about if you don't believe it why can't you leave it to those who do and go on about your business? In your overt effort to be an articulate philosopher you have given a great answer to the wrong question. But thatnks for that anyway.

Yeah, I wonder about it. Personally I agree with you. It matters the intent of the answerer, and generally those answering questions of generally opposing belief do answer with acid, and I regret seeing this in the world. I wont say what side I am on, because genereally I am on neither side. I answer both questions, but not with acid, because I realize the problem there can be. I like to be informed on both sides of opposing views, and I find a middle way. Sounds Buhdist, but I never studied that one.

Judge not, lest thou be judged.
Give only what you expect in return.
What you do is returned to you three fold.
When you attack any religion, no matter it's basis, no matter your belief or disbelief, you seek to cause harm.
When you attack out of anger you fault only yourself.
Asking questions like...
Is as much an attack on the faithless as it is on those who would profess faith.
What happened to turning the other cheek?
Had you have worded it more kindly and not used the following, I quote " those who DO believe?" your answers may have been more polite.
Remembering that those who are faithless would remark on any question concerning faith, would it not be wise to help them understand instead of attacking them? I'm sure that Jesus would rather teach than attack.
Please try to be more Christian in your questions and answers.
Those that are Agnostic or Atheist should show tolerance too.
Your lack of understanding shines brightly and makes you look, at times , foolish in your responses.
You gain nothing from the attacks, short of a short momentary giggle.
Remember that an open hand can be filled and a closed fist can only bleed.

I find that negative answers to a topic one doesn't believe in only shows ones immaturity. When I enter a topic for wiccans or atheists, I may not agree with that person's religious choices, but if I answer, I say something constructive. I don't go on with the intent of blasting them or telling them they are wrong. It does anger me when I find atheists or wiccans writing hurtful things about Christians in a question geared towards christians only (even when the asker isn't christian). The same applies to hurtful answers towards Muslims.
Remember what your mom always told you. If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all.

Unfortunately there are just some people that like to keep controversy stirred up & they like to upset Christians and what we believe in. It's gone on from the beginning and will continue until Christ returns. What I try to remember is persecution brings blessings from God.
Personally I feel compassion for those that will spend eternity in hell and often wonder what thoughts will go through their minds as they endure the torment there.
---
I came back to edit my answer and noticed I already had a negative vote - as did everyone that tried to answer with the compassion a Christian should possess. This is sad to me.
All I can say is continue your persecutions non-believers. We will all be judged.
To the asker of this question - thank you!

Wow, I only wonder about this every single time somebody asks this question which is about 5 times a day!! It's been like 20 whole minutes, thanks for the reminder!
One of the christian goals is to proselytize. Which means they want to convince me that my world view is wrong. I am simply doing the same thing. Some are ruder than others just as xians are.

Mu husband is catholic and I am deist. I recently told him I needed to join a group which discussed the deist beliefs. His answer to me was that it would be very boring if everone were to sit and nod in the affirmative response to each other. There'd be no topic for discussion and we really would not be able to learn much from eachother.

That is true. Fortunately there is now a universal truth about all that.

Interesting answers. Several said they answer to show us how wrong or stupid or deluded we are.
Just what you need to get the morning going, a nice heaping helping of arrogance with a side order of intolerance.

One time I posted a religious question and I needed to hear from believers only. I asked that only Christians answer. I got about 10 thumbs down and lots of hateful responses because I asked that only Christians respond. Finally I added under details, "Can't your read?!" because I am so sick of their snotty answers, too.
