What is longest relationship boyfriend-girlfriend you know before they got married??

My bf's uncle dated his gf for 10 years before they got married.
They got married last summer on their 10th year anniversary.
My mother and father got married after 25 years of living together.

we were together 7 years before we got married. we started dating in high school. we got engaged at 18, but decided that we should wait to get married until we were done with college. got married at age 23, i graduated a year before my husband(he was going to night school and working full time). my husband graduated a week before our wedding.

my mom and dad are still "going out"..they've been together for 32 years and still haven't gotten married yet...they tell me that things are going well enough for them right now, and no matter how long you've been together, somehow the thought of marriage happens to crack things up...look at Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell...they've been together this long and still no marriage, they have the same beliefs..to some people, marriage is just a way to prove to people that you're together and for religious beliefs..if you really want to stay dedicated to that person for a lifetime, there's no need to get a "piece of paper" to prove it...this way, if you happen to break up, you don't have to go through all those court dates and name changing :)

I have planned weddings where the couple was together for months before getting engaged and others where the couple was together for 10 years before thinking about getting engaged. It just depends on the couple.

My husbands' sister and brother in law just got married in june after 11 years of dating! That's just too long. if your planning on it just do it! i met my husband in march of 2006 and got married this oct. i'm 27 and figured why wait if we know what we want!

8 years and counting. Why rush into marriage if you know you love them and they love you thats what counts and not a title.
