i dont think God want us to fear him. II believe he is all love and i find it absurd that he would be planning on the destruction of the world. I think that religion in general put fear on us so that would buy into anything they tell us in order to save our souls. I dont think i have to go to church to tell someone my sins if i dont even know that person. Yet i feel very close to the one. Why would i fear God then? i'm a sinner yes but i dont regret anything i dont think im evil i havent harm anyone and i love everything and everybody in this world. If i were as to give my life for this world i would. Yet i'm still a sinner that should fear God and go to a building to hear someone elses point of view? why do we buy into everything they say ? how many people go to church because they truly like it ? i dont think many. i think most people go for fear looking for a magic pass to salvation. Other just go because of routine. What about me then? i dont fear god because i know he is all love.

fear as in respect, not fear as in to be afraid of. i do not know if others felt this way about their own dad, but i knew if i did something i shouldnt have when i was younger, i could expect to be in trouble, i feared my dad in that same way. i knew what i should be doing , if i did things i shouldnt i could expect to be in trouble. thats a respectful "fear". of course my dad always forgave me and love went on, same as with God!

Well, I don't think you would buy anyone interpreting the word fear especially the fear of God. Put it in the context of relationship with one's parent. Generally, parents love their children. Let's say the children also love their parents. However, the problem is because of human weakness, all children would take advantage of such love from their parents. As you know love without discipline most often the children will go astray in life. So it is with God, Christians call him father. Do we fear him or love him? As we see if anyone says he loves him, you will find he sometimes will fail to stay obedience to him. So love and fear seems to be so close to each other and it is hard to draw a line when fear begins after love makes one to be self centred which is at risk of development. So if there is love without fear, how one will behave. So to be on the safe side, have love and fear for God so that you will not fail to follow his will for you. If bible is a book that is read, one can find what is his will for believers. If we say God's love will be unreasonable if some will be condemned. How could evil be restrained? How could anyone write any law or punish anyone who does evil or wrong? Because everyone is the subject of love.
About a magic pass to salvation, I find it is a miracle or magic for one to confess of his faith in Christ Jesus, his salvation is guaranteed. Will he go to heaven if he never goes to church or keep God's commandments or follow his will? The answer is do we want to go to heaven after confessing the faith. If your faith is not sincere or is just a show, God cannot be deceived. So therefore, it is impossible for anyone who has Christ will not follow whatever he teaches us to behave to be wellpleased by God and be taken up to heaven when we are called home or on Jesus second return. So if one knows God loves him and he does not respond that love to him that relationship is absurd and cronic. The condition shows there is a rejection of God's love. So do one have the courage to ask God for his love when it is too late. I hope you would and be safe and saved.

Dude.. Chrsitians teach that God forgives everyone for everything.. there is NEVER a need to fear anyone under proper christian teaching.. least of all GOD!!

I think you are highly mis-informed on the subject of christianity.. perhaps you should learn latin and read some original stuff.. because most stuff written about christianity these days especially if written in English.. is either completley wrong.. or hheavily skewed or simply focusses on minor aspects..

You seem to just be misinformed though.. let me guess.. you watch Fox TV??

I read some of the other answers about how fearing God is respect, and that is a whole lot of CRAP. How the hell can you love someone and be scared that he might wipe your existence off the planet??? LOGIC, people! Use it! Would you say it's perfectly fine if a woman loves her violent, jealous husband although she's afraid he'll beat her to a pulp if she doesn't follow his rules? What would your COMMON SENSE tell you? You would tell her that she needs to leave him ASAP and get help right away, wouldn't you??? The ideals of what God wants from people are no different than a violent husband.

Why have to fear him???
I agree with you that we havent to be afraid of HIM.God is love.
Many persons who say that, are hypocritics. They say one thing , but finally do another, Some men that go to the church every sundays, go to the war and kill another human beings. They say that do that in name of the country and patriotism....Where in the Bible is said that this is allowed?? that kind of pple has to be afraid.
I think as you do...to "talk" with God, I dont need another pple for that.
You can find God in ur home, in countryside, even in a crowd, and He always will hear you. We are all sinners, and can tell God our sins directly.
I think that i'm a better christian than someone that goes to church every sundays.

Hello David looking for my path,
You used a lot of "I" in your question and that shows that you are important to you. Don't take me wrong, that is not necessarily a bad thing.

When a person looks at themselves, they open their eyes to their minds and begin to wonder about their creation and their creator.

You have written much about religion and their dogmas and theologies with their different practices. All of which go against the teachings in the Word of God.

God give us His Word to live our lives by. That Word is His only begotten Son Jesus Christ where all salvation is.

You never mentioned whether you are a Christian or not. You can build your house to completion but if the foundation is not solid it will not stand the test of time.

My advise to you is that you revere God through His Word and allow Him to bless you each day as He see fit.><>

First of all you need a source of authority for what you believe. You have chosen to base your beliefs on what you "think", as you clearly stated at least 7 times in your statement. Some of us base our beliefs on the Bible which we believe to be the Word of God. In the Bible it says that the "fear of God is the beginning of wisdom" The fear of God is based not on His love, but on His holiness. God is not, as you think, "all love" He is a holy God and cannot tolerate sin. Read your Bible more and you will begin to see the truth about God, not your imaginary god that you have de up in your own mind.
Here is a scriture out of Hebrews 10 and is written to Christians. 26 'For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. 28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE." 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

Yeah, fear first appeared in the bible as a tool in the first chapter/book, Genisis and started showing it's ugly head. As far as I know fear wasn't a tool to be used at the command of God, but first started to simply appear as a phrase showing one's faith, although in my opinion fear shouldn't be used. A person can fear a diety, but still not love it, you know what I mean?
I think you and I are on the same side of this opinion, I just encourage you to solidify your natural rational beliefs and spread the word. There need not be fear in the world.

Most people buy into things man says cause, they don't take the time to know God themselves..They would rather hear the lies from man and believe them..God is to be feared but not the way man explains..God is love and He does want to show you His love..When I say fear it because I know my Father in Heaven,,He gave life to me and in that I am Thankful..When you truly seek out God and know His will,,you will see another God not the one man decribes..

Fear is the ultimate source of respect...it doesn't mean you are afraid of him......just a high degree of respect....he has had a plan all along and the destruction of this world will be necessary to create paradise.
