Well, I'm 16, I dropped out of school a couple weeks ago, and I assure you I'm not stupid. Yet I guess in some ways I am. Lately I get these...trains, I like to call them, like waves of extreme depression, sometimes I cry and can't stop, this used to happen but very rarely, now it happens every other day, sometimes I think about death, no I don't wish to kill myself, I just...don't see a reason I should be here accept for my girlfriend, she is all I have going for me.
Don't give me the same "Go get help from a professional." or..."Take medication you wacko!" answers either...please, that'll just make me feel way more crazy than I already do.

I don't understand why you refuse to accept help from the very source that can really assist you. There is nothing wrong with seeing a professional therapist or taking medication to get you over the hump. In most situations they help after a short period of time and not required long-term. More often than not, depression won't go away on its own. A support group of friends is something you might find helpful and you should speak up to those close to you and see if they have any good suggestions. best of luck to you.

the long and the short of it is you have what sounds in every respect like a case of clinical depression. it could be caused by too much stress in your life, or the cause could be more deeply rooted. talking to a councellor or something similar is probably the best idea, since they are trained to spot cases that require special attention versus cases where all the person needs is to de-stress and take a breather. my suggestion is go talk to a school guidance councellor, or the teen help line (a very good resource, and you can call them any time day or night and just chat confidentially with someone who can help)

Now, you have no direction in your life and you don;t know what you want to do with yourself.

What do you want to do with yourself?

Any support from the parents? I mean, at 16, I'm sure they want you back in school. You need a purpose. What is that purpose for you that gives you meaning?

If you don't accept advice from a professional psychologist and refuse to take medication, it will be extremely difficult for you to overcome depression.

go back to your school and tell them you want to talk to councelor. You need to get back to school and let them help you even if it means getting medication. You do need someone to talk to and the school should help you get that help.
