If the tattoo is gang related I have heard some hospitals will do it for free. Not sure what all the criteria is, or even who, when or where. If it's just a bad tattoo or you just don't want it anymore hospitals will charge about $250 a square inch. Another idea is to have it re-tattooed the tone of your skin. I have heard of this, but have no clue as to what the results look like. Depending on the location of the tattoo you could remove it yourself over time. While in the shower and your skin is soft use a pumice stone or one of those files they use to remove callouses on feet and give it a good rubbing! You are wanting to remove several layers of skin. Do this every time (or every other time) you are in the shower. This takes a while, but It does seem to work.

Dr. TATTOFF OPERATION INK-OFF events will take place in clinics located in Southern California, Phoenix, Atlanta, Dallas and Houston on Sunday, January 12 and Monday, January 13, 2014 from 10am to 4pm.
On a first-come, first-served basis, people with tattoos up to 10 inches in size can have their tattoo evaluated by a trained, licensed medical professional who will provide an estimate of how long it will take to remove and the probability of success. Following the assessment, all patients will be offered a same-day removal treatment session, free of charge.
According to patient surveys conducted by Dr. Tattoff, the top reasons for removing a tattoo include improving one’s job prospects, entering or seeking a new romantic relationship, and having children.
To provide an accurate estimate of time and treatments required, Dr. Tattoff utilizes the only nationally published and proprietary Kirby-Desai tattoo removal scale, which was developed in part by leading dermatologist and Dr. Tattoff Chief Medical Officer, Will Kirby, D.O.
There are a multitude of factors that can have an impact on the timing and success rate of a completely successful tattoo removal including skin tone, colors and number of layers of ink used, whether it was done by a professional or amateur tattoo artist and more.

I'm sure there are some idiots who will sand it off, dig it out, or burn you until you can't recognize it I've read about places that will remove gang related tattoos for free or for very little but for some reason, I doubt that is the case here So, to try and get you to understand what kind of question this is: are there any banks in Chicago that give you thousands of dollars? are there any police in Chicago that will pay you to break the law? are there any flying pink elephants in Chicago that I could rent for my sons 178th wedding anniversary? if you are actually trying to get a gang tat removed, I'm not sure who you'd want to talk to. maybe a reputable tattoo joint in the area

I would consult with a qualified physician. I believe a cosmetic surgeon could use lasers or other methods such as surgery with skin grafting to remove tattoos you now dislike. I seriously doubt you could do this at home considering how extensive the removal process is for a doctor. Did you not realise that tattoos were permanently burned into your flesh for eternity. Even after the the surgeon removes it you will still be disfigured. This is also extremely expensive.

There are places that do it for free, but its only for people with gang related tattoos. I was going to have my tattoo removed, it was able the size of a baseball and the cost was $430.00 each session, and they recommended 15 sessions, so several thousand dollars for mine.
It depends on how big it is, and how dark it is.

If you have a little time you can check out a product called "wrecking balm." It is like a 3 step tattoo fade system.
I'd love to give you a testimonial, but... I love my ink.
Hope it helps.
