get a long breadstick or baguette. make cuts all along it almost all the way through to the bottom. Mix some butter or margarine with some finely diced or crushed garlic (about 2 cloves) and some finely chopped fresh parsley if you have it. Use this mixture to butter the cut surfaces of the bread in the little slits you made - coat it fairly heavily as it soaks in as it melts. spread some butter on top as well. wrap it all in foil and put in a hot oven for 15 minutes, then unwrap it a bit so the top is uncovered and cook it for another 5 minutes.
also if you like to barbeque, you can make great garlic bread by spreading the above butter mixture onto turkish or flat bread and cooking it butter side down until crispy.
Enjoy!

Garlic Bread:
1 loaf fresh French or Italian bread, about 22 inches long, cut in half lengthwise
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley
1 teaspoon dehydrated garlic flakes, recipe follows
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

With a fork or your fingers, pull out the excess bread and hollow slightly the center of the loaf.

In a bowl, cream together the remaining ingredients and spread evenly over the cut sides of the bread. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake until just golden brown and bubbly.

Serve hot.

Dehydrated Garlic Flakes:
1 head garlic, peeled and thinly sliced

Preheat the oven to 120 degrees F or the lowest setting. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Spread the sliced garlic on the baking sheet and bake until completely dried and lightly browned, about 3 hours.

Remove and let cool completely. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.

"Garlic Bread" - 18 slices

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 cloves garlic; minced
1/4 tsp. salt
1 loaf (1-pound) hearty Italian bread

Heat oven to 350*. Mix butter, olive oil, garlic and salt in small bowl.
Slice bread into 18 pieces, about 3/4" thick, without cutting through bottom crust, so slices stay attached. Spread butter mixture, dividing evenly between slices, about 1 teaspoon. Wrap bread tightly in foil.
Bake at 350* for 15-20 minutes or until butter is melted and bread is hot. Unwrap carefully and serve hot.

Buy a large loaf of french bread. Cut into large pieces, typically four depending on how large your loaf is. Cut pieces in halves. Spread butter, garlic spread onto halved pieces. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, black pepper and dried parsley flakes. Broil for 3-4 mins, but WATCH very closely...this bread can burn in the broiler if left for more then a few mins. Take out and enjoy!

oh... making garlic bread is just easy... i usually do this at home together with pasta...

all you need is butter, fresh garlic, rosemarie, french bread, salt and pepper...

first you have to place the butter in room temp. so it will soften. chop the galic, the amount depends on your serving... incorporate the garlic in to the butter and add freshly chopped rosemarie salt and pepper. apply this mixture to thin slices of french bread and bake it in the oven...

that's it... delicious home made garlic bread!
