i have a jeep wrangler x 03 i went to work at night it has been cold it started just fine howver it said check gages i had no oil pressure but within a min it was fine i figuried it was due to the cold weather got to work turnd off car nothing was left on went back out side 10 min ater and it turned over started then died i took out the battey and took it in for test it tested bad got the new battery in and now when i turn the key a whineing noise follows untill the key is in the off postion. about a week earlyer a no buss came up on my jeep checked fuses and they are fine and the no buss went away???? so please help me to get it started

it sounds like the whining is coming from the starter. today i will remove the starter and have it tested. i had the tne battery tested when i got it. i drive an autmatic jeep. thanks everyone for your help so far

What type of whining noise from where? Are battery cables on tight enough(don't move when you yank cable side to side)? Did they test your new battery that may have been sitting on the self last 6 months? The "No Bus" message on the cluster is telling you that the cluster is no getting any messages over the communication system that the jeep uses. A TJ basically only has 2 main modules that control all aspects of vehicle control, the cluster and the PCM. PCM does all engine and trans stuff and the cluster runs everything else(like a Body Controller would). To take care of this problem there is a new updated connector for the back of the cluster. You could also try removing the cluster and cleaning the connectors and applying a light coating of dielectric grease to the connectors. Being that a TJ is pretty much an open air vehicle I have seen slight corrosion on the connector cause the no bus message. If you do replace the connector you HAVE to solder the wires, NO BUTT OR CRIMP CONNECTORS, you have to maintain the correct resistance of the circuit since bus messages are pretty much voltage based. Too much resistance=wrong voltage=wrong message. With the no bus message the cluster guages won't work like oil pressure etc. Hope this helps.

There is a small chance you are hearing the starter motor turning and it isn't engaging in the flywheel. Get a hammer and give the flywheel end of the starter motor a firm tap.
If it is making a sort of rasping noise and you have a manual transmission put it into gear, release the brakes, and give the jeep a light push. This should be just enough to give the engine a bit of a turn to help the teeth engage.
As a last ditch effort, you could try and "crash" start it, but this requires a manual transmission, a bit of a slope and steady nerves.

Take the starter off and have it checked, if the starter is fine. Go to your local parts store and see if they have a code reader with the book that explains what each code means. They should have a loan-a-tool program. For a small down payment maybe ten bucks. You will get your money back when you return it. That should help you out.

check your battery cables. with all the bells and whistles on cars now days a dealer is almost needed for everything. Sad
