Two convicts are locked in a cell.
There is an unbarred window high up in the cell.
No matter if they stand on the bed or one on top of the other they can't reach the window to escape.
They then decide to tunnel out.
However, they give up with the tunnelling because it will take too long.
Finally one of the convicts figures out how to escape from the cell.
What is his plan?

By tunneling I suppose a heap of dirt formed, they stood on the heap to escape through the window.

They take the saw (sore) and cut the bed in half
Two halfs make a whole
They jump through the hole
They shout until they are hoarse
They jump on the horse and ride off into the sunset

No seriously, they pile up the dirt they dug out of the tunnel and climb out of the window from the top of the pile.
