I'm not dead yet, so I can't really say, neither can anyone else for sure.

i urge to fluctuate. I truly have spoken with many human beings in the clinical occupation about something they don't even communicate among themselves -- the go out of the spirit from the body. a lot of them have instructed me that they see a mild, a shiny fog, or a suspended twine at the same time as the spirit leaves the body. And being educated in clinical, they have easily no idea what meaning so that they don't communicate it for worry someone will imagine them loco and eliminate their license or job! The spirit leaves the body via the accurate of the pinnacle. once the spirit leaves the body, the actual shell continues to be and no pastime is the norm. wish this permits!

I think there are a LOT of misconceptions floating around about the "soul," "spirit," etc. Many religions seem to teach that you "have" a soul, someone here even suggested that you have a "soul" AND a "spirit" (which seems pretty silly to me.)
Why in the world would you possibly need all these "things" around you and "why" and "where" would they possibly "go." Seems to me to be a serious over-complication of a very basic idea.
YOU are the part of all this that is actually aware, concious. In fact YOU are the only part of you that is concious of being aware at all. You it appears, (more so since quaantum physics arrived) inhabit a body and use a mind. Therefore it only makes sense that YOU must be your OWN Immortal Soul. YOU are the "Spiritual Being" that at the end of the day is going to leave the body and go somewhere. Not some mystical entity, not some whispy epherial essence, just YOU!
The correct question should not be "why do we need a SOUL?" but rather what the Hell are we "spirits" or "souls" ("life force awareness entities") doing running around down here in these little meat units on this little speck of dust for in the first place? What's all THIS about?
(Might prove to be a more productive line of inquiry)

It is diffeent in Christians and in non believers. We all have a body soul and a spirit. Read carefully creation. God created man of the dust of the ground (body - physical) and He breathed into him the breath of God (spirit - comes from an eternal God and therefore cannot cease to exist it is eternal) and man BECAME a living soul (Psyche - this comes from a touching of the two body and spirit, and produces a soul which gives us an awareness of the realm in which we live. It is comprised of our mind, feelings or emotions and out volition or will) . The word death in the Bible means a separation of two things. So james says, "for just as the body without the spirit is dead...." Death occurs when the spirit and the body separate. Now sin is done in the soul, and the Bible says that the soul that sins will die. It also says that all of us sin. We all have sin in our soul. So in the Believer when he dies the soul cannot go with him to heaven, so only his spirit goes to heaven to be with God and will remain there until Jesus returns and at that time will receive a new body and hence a new soul. In the unbeliever since he is already separated from God due to his sin, the soul remains and is sent to Hades, where he will remain untl the Great white throne judgment and then both soul and spirit will be cast into hell for eternity.
As far as how that spirit and soul leave the body I guess they just go, The Bible does tell us that it is instantaneous so no one would be able to see it.

We are the SOUL., it is our being, who we are... The body is just physical, and it dies and goes to the grave, and decomposses in the ground. The SOUL, the essense of us, what we are, remains. Some believe that the SOUL goes to heaven if it was a good person. Some believe the SOUL goes to hell, if it was not a good person. There are others who believe that the SOUL remains, and is then re-incarnated into another being.
It's an interesting study, and it depends on what you believe will happen after death.
However, the Bible does tell us that the SOUL is ourselves; not seperated from who we actually are..

Why does a car need petrol? A soul is the petrol for the car called our body. Rest of the questions seems to be unanswered so far. If you beleive in religion, there is life after death and if you beleive in science, once your soul departs, thats the end of the chapter.

Your soul fly out of the body the moment you are meant to die, people that had near death experiences confirmed the soul flying out of the body to a tunnel then to a point you know when you cross a point you cant return and they've seen lots of friends and family that past away. They say when they fly out of the body they feel peace and lots of love. Your body is like the car you own, someday it's not gonna belong to you anymore and you are your soul, that’s who you are. The a both mentioned, is about a Dr that didn’t believe near death experiences and he started a study and today he believes. Cool question. p.s you go to the spirit world.

The Bible does not teach that we have a immortal soul that upon death of the body, leaves and goes elsewhere.
But the Bible teaches that we ARE a living soul.
Consider what happened to Adam at his death. When he sinned,God told him:"you will return to the ground for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return."(Gen.3:19).Think of what that means. Before God created him from the dust,Adam did not exist. After his death,Adam returned to the same state of nonexistence.
Simply stated, the Bible teaches that death is the opposite of life.
In the Bible "soul" is translated from the Hebrew nephesh and the Greek psykhe.Bible usage shows the soul to be a person or an animal or the life that a person or animal enjoys.
The doctrine of an immortal soul is not a Bible teaching.

It goes out as it came in---with the breath. We need a soul in order for our bodies to live. The soul is the spiritual essence from God that sustains life in the body. When the soul leaves the body immediate begins to decay. Upon departure the soul goes before God. those that are saved enter heaven. those that are not are destined to hell. Because time does not exist in heaven it is difficult to say what goes on and when. Judgment could be going on right now because God looks at everything all at once, which is why i say that there is no time in heaven.

Your soul is not material. It is pure spirit. Your guardian angel (the pure white light and strong feeling of love experienced by people who have had near-death experiences) takes it into her keeping and transports it to the Mansion World where it will be provided with a new body in which to continue the journey to join the Creator.
You need it if you want to have eternal life because it is all that survives your material death.

The soul is a person or an animal or the life that a person or an animal enjoys. It is not some immaterial thing that leaves the body at death. The soul is not immortal. Ez.18:4,20 sasys: "he soul that is sinning, it itself will die."
