toughie.
i suggest if he leaves you little presents, pick them up and deposit them in the litter box.
also clean up the place he left it with disinfectant, so he doesnt use that spot again.
he will get the idea soon enough. i think the foreign smell of the cat litter might be putting him off. try garden dirt or sand. might be more of what he's use to. and slowly bring it over to litter. cats are very quick to learn.

Usually, there is no more to it than getting a litter box and showing it to the cat. This is just built in to cat to know how. If it has problems, try different litter brands (some cats are picky). Good luck!

well what I did to show my cats the litter box was I put the cat in the box and took its paw and gently tried to dig the litter a little. And I did that a few times. So that worked for me.

It's not that hard. Get the box ready, then just feed it alot of rich canned cat food,(My cat Bucky, prefers KozyKat red) but, any good ol greasy stuff will do.Then, when it starts to sniff around and starts getting that look on it's face (you'll know when you see it),just toss him in the box (and keep tossing, stay there with him/her),and it will go,and it WILL STINK,but hey we all have to deal with the smell, for a true friend for life,IF it adopts you.Remember, this will not take too long, greasy cat food goes through cats like sh*t though a goose.Hope I helped-Bucky thinks so.

if your cat goes to the door, let her out, and just show her where the litter box is in the house

thanks for bringing in a stray- As for clutter field preparation, maximum cats do instinctively, and that i have not considered a cat from outdoors have a difficulty with the litterbox interior. The trick is to get the cat to figure the position the clutter field is. i might want to set up fairly some bins throughout, and then because the cat receives used to moving into a clutter field, commence eliminating those in inconvenient places. also, in case you purely delivered the cat interior, it will be sturdy to save him constrained to at least one room, with a clutter field in it, until eventually you get him to the vet and appeared at.

Try putting him in it after he eats. My cat was a stray & we kept doing that & he learned so quick!! So did my kitten.
Good Luck!

You put the cat in it and help him dig a little with his paws. He gets the idea. If he doesn't at once, ewhen you see him do his business outside, you pick him up and say NOt here, and put him in the litterbox and say here and encourage him to do it there.
