I just got out of HS and my dad wanted to buy me a car ( i'm not a spoiled kid he just wants me to have my first car) and he said he'll give me $4000 to buy one... now, i can keep saving money till i can buy a better car (by the time cars fly) of just go out and buy one and fix it as the years go by... what car do you think is the best or better and if i should save or buy now?

Man this is an open question... Lets see if we can narrow it down alittle... Because there are so many choices for 4000.00

1st and for most What cars or truck do you like???
There are so many good ones with great track records, but just as many bad ones...

2nd I recommend you bring your budget down to 2500 to 3000 for the car or truck, if you decide to buy one instead of saving up for a newer or better one... Because you will need to service and fix up what every you buy and you might want to up grade the stereo. Remeber tune ups, oil changes, tires, brakes etc... Also this will show your dad that your thinking ahead...

3rd depending on where you live you should be able to find a great car for 1800.00 to 2500.00 But it might take sometime and some travel...

Keep your dad in the loop with your choices. And good luck.

I say go to a well known buy here pay here dealership and you can get a good car for as little as $3000.00, I agree with the other person whom said to save a little for possible repairs. As far as what's a good vehicle depends on what you are looking for. Add a little more detail and then we can help you more with that part - it's a bit of an open ended question... good luck!

Check with your ways and means department and ask how much driving around do I need to do right now......be aware of the costs of operation, insurance. The Pontiac Bonneville for that price could be a good choice. Find a Grandma that wants to sell one with low miles.
