You may (not should).
Your kids (I dunno how old are they) MIGHT listen to Eminem or Marilyn Manson or Black Sabbath even.

But remember to remind them afterwards and tell them that Eminem is an artist who has seeking for a total freedom of speech all the time. What he says in his songs it may a reflection of his personal life but it has nothing to do with your kids' life at all. Underline that to your kids.

NEVER try to quite or shatter your kids freedom because sooner or later IF you do that to them, they could rebel against you and if this happens... at the end of the day, you could have such a difficult - hard times with them.

You should to let and HELP your kids enable to differentiate and to distinguish the difference between the artist's freedom of speech and the real life after all. And I'm sure your kids won't turn to be like Eminem, if only you know how to deal with it.

My 14 y o son listens to Eminem. I actually listen to it too. I can't say I agree with all his songs, because some of them make me really cringe. But others are very clever and very well written. As long as your kids know they are just songs, that should be fine. As long as they don't go singing the words to his song "Fack" you'll be ok.

well, eminem plays a horror character on his CD's called Slim Shady. a lot of this stuff he says in this role of this character. So the real question is what age would you let them watch a horror movie like saw or silence of the lmbs, given that they know it is not real, just actors acting it out. when eminem raps as slim shady, it is not real, its a persona he is acting out, just audibly, not visually.

britney spears and her "im a virgin but i dress like im a hooker" image, is that any better?

i would say at least teenage, so 13. but definitely he can inspire people to overcome adversity.

How old are they? I don't think it's bad...it's part of life...I think it is important to talk about the lyrics and what they mean.
I'm not much of an eminem fan, but I know that he writes/sings from his heart--and he has done positive things with his not-so-positive life experiences. Great lesson to be learned there.

um...

well, i listened to him in like... 6th grade, my mom was okay with it, it was pretty profane, and i think i turned out fine. I go to a great college, never had behavioral issues, and make the dean's list...

my mom thought it was best that i had freedom to make my own decisions. she basically sat me down, said "these are his lyrics" and discussed how bad they were. i said okay, and continued to listen to it, but she just explained the negative side about those lyrics to me when she realized i listened to him.

i believe that children will make the right decision base on what they want. listening to eminem or other singer are not going to change who they are. i know kids who like eminem and they are wonderful children.

Children become what they are in contact with. Look at the lyrics. Do you want them to become like this guy, do what he is talking about? Do you want them to talk like he talks? Just looking at the lyrics, for me I would say "absolutely not". If they want to listen to this filthy, negative talk they can buy it on their own money when they are out of the house. Especially in buying it-- why would I buy something like this for them? You wouldn't feed them poison, give them marijuana, encourage them to smoke dope, hang out with prostitutes or gang leaders, or do any of the things the man is singing about; why let them listen to people talking about it? No way.

Its your house your rules. As a parent I would think you would have that in mind. I wouldn't allow it unless the kid is eighteen, but even at that I wouldn't allow it in my house. How old are they???
