Why do you think you need to stop your therapy is the question I would ask yourself. Maybe: 1) how long have you been in therapy; 2) Is it helping you; 3) What may be causing you to consider stopping, are you reaching a turning point again? 4) is there someone who is wanting you to stop it?
It can take many years for others and not so many for others...I have been in therapy for 2 years now; I considered stopping at least 2 times and during those decisions discovered some other issues and I am stronger for staying. Just some food for thought if you are serious discuss your questions with your therapist. Take care.

when you feel that the issues are resolved that caused the start of the therapy. Only you will know when you are strong enough, but take it easy when you do finish the therapy and don't stop at a busy time of year or when there are a lot of changes going on in your life. As soon as you feel that it is not going well, go back to the therapist, it is a long cycle that you need to work through, small steps at a time!

It depends on the reasons, if the reason is money then hopefully you will not have to most therapists have a sliding scale.

If you have only just started and dont feel any different remember that it takes a while to feel different and most often you feel worse before you get better.

If you feel that you no longer NEED therapy then yes stop it but talk to your therapist first dont just leave as without ending therapy properly it may cause harm, esp if you have rejection issues.

Good luck and i hope all goes well.

If you are being monitored by a Dr. for your meds and when you feel better and discuss it with the therapist. Also, if you feel that therapy is not helping you anymore and that the therapist is not doing anything for you. Just make sure you have a Dr. to prescribe meds as needed and that you let he/she know if the way you feel has changed, etc.

when u feel u don't help anymore & u can cope on ur own.
Mind u, I stopped therapy when I wasn't ready, & it forced me to stop depending on others & to depend on myself to deal with my problems. That was a big step 4 me & i now feel much stronger.
