Generally a canker sore precedes the flu or a bad cold. You'll want to ramp up your vitamin C intake drastically - get 500 to 1,000 mg capsules of C and take as many as your stomach can handle (1-8 per hour). Pick up zinc and lysine as well - taking them in the evening before bed. If you start now, you should see relief fairly quickly and avoid a doctor's visit/antibiotics.

Rince your mouth with warm to hot water with salt. Paint the lesion (white spot), with gentian violet several times a day. A quick way to stop the pain is to treat the spot with xylocain hydrochloride wait five minutes and then put salt grains on the lesion. and keep doing so for about five minutes. xylocain is the anesthetic that dentists use to freeze gums and teeth. You can get it at the local pharmacy, (chemists shop). Or you can skip it and endure five minutes of intence pain followed by no more pain from the aphthous lesion for several hours.
Get to a [hysician if your sore throat has been atound for 3 days or more. You might need an antibiotic.
