I am looking for software that will extract the drums part from a music file and preferably save it as MP3.

Not sure if it can do it, but Blaze Media Pro is an awesome program. Try out the trial version and see if it can do what you want it to. Even if it doesnt, Youll have a really nice audio/video editing software.

Such a thing doesn't really exist, as there are only two "tracks" on an MP3 song... the left audio track and the right audio track. There are some programs that use stereo phasing to try to eliminate the "center" channel where the vocals usually lie, but the results are haphazard at best. You can think of it like trying to unmix paint.

You CAN'T unmix audio. No matter what. That would be like trying to take just the water out of a can of soda.
