Generally they're affectionate towards people they feel attached to. Animals don't typically have ulterior motives or anything, and aren't looking to serve a greater purpose or goal. That's what makes them great.

Good Morning - maybe your kitty wants food. I always feed mine in the morning and that is the only way to keep them away from me. Don't get me wrong - I love it when they love on me but jeez! Kitties always love the ones that take care of them. Haven't you ever noticed that when you change the litter box that your cat must take an immediate dump right away. It is because he/she is grateful to have a clean bathroom!

Why? Because you are both mammals and mammals like to touch. Your cat likes you. Don't you like him? Besides you provide food water a clean litter box. Makes sense to stay on your good side.

Cats think they own their people. When a cat rubs it's head on you it's actually marking it's turf-good thing they don't do it the same way dogs do! You take care of your cat, so your cat takes care of it's human.

cause he can. cause he feels like it, and he knows you will give in. also he might be cold, and like your body warmth.
but mainly because he is a cat, and he is entitled to it.
who doesn't like a backrub?
be glad he wants to get affectionate, sum people hate cats because they recon cats are cold and unresponsive.

Maybe your cat is affectionate to you because it LIKES you. Duh!
Lol, all sentient/feeling animals need and deserve love, respect, kindess, compassion and lots of great food, water, shelter, and litter boxes.
If you're kind, gentle, respectful, etc., toward your cat, then duh, it's gonna love you back.
