I think that the question itself is a good one, but at the end it is clear that it is advertisement for her show and to make her look like a saint.
I think it is abuse of this website for advertisement and I can't believe that so many people fall for it. She might be a nice person in private, I don't know, but I think that this kind of advertisement is shabby.
Has anyone reported her as abuse? What are your opinions?

If one question on Yahoo answers will make someone look like a saint, there must be loads of Gods and Demi-Gods in here.

Look, it wasn't an ad, it was a question. Everyone knows Oprah is a community-minded person and tries to help where she can. It just so happens that she has an outrageously popular TV show that she uses quite often to help more people.

She was listed by Forbes magazine as the highest paid african american celebrity this year so she's not hurting for money and she certainly isn't hurting for viewers.

Yahoo is asking celebrities to post questions to bring attention to YAHOO which is of course a good business move on their part.

At least they're asking celebrities who actually have something to say and are doing more than glorifying themselves and setting bad examples to contribute and in turn those celebrities are asking questions that get people thinking and I've seen some really well thought out and insightful answers to those questions with a minimum of wise *** remarks.

Frankly, I think that is what Yahoo Answers is supposed to be all about.

GET REAL! Oprah doesn't need to advertise her show. I think nothing is shabby about Oprah. She is an angel: we can all be inspired by her generousity and kindness. Oprah doesnt have to prove anything to anyone. That's right...she IS a saint. Dont pick on good people. Why not pick on the bad guys? That would make more sense!

It was pretty obvious. I only knew about the show because I saw the question on here before the show aired. I don't think her goal is to look like a saint, though...and didn't report it. It's not exactly a negative subject when you are talking about helping others. That's just my opinion though.

It is an idiotic qestion. Why should you change a stranger? Is US $1000 a big sum to change some body?It is only adverisement. If email answers are allergic why question should be asked. It was a clear case of misuse of Yahoo for personal advertisement purposes.1000 $ may be sufficient to change somebody's dress,if they are willing.

As far as I can tell - you have only made ONE mistake in your 'question'.

I don't think Oprah's question was a 'subliminal' ad for her show - I thought it was a shamefully OBVIOUS advert!

BIG THUMBS UP TO YOU FOR POINTING IT OUT!!!

Wish I could give you more than ONE thumbs up!... and let's face it - if Oprah was so convinced that $1,000 could be so beneficial to the life of someone else - she is FAR more financially able to make the changes she is urging US to make!

Put your money where your mouth is Oprah!

Yes, definitely and I personally think it's patronising that someone as filthy rich as she is has asked that kind of question when she has actually got plenty of cash in her back pocket and is in a much better position to change someone's life than most of us are. She got a load of free advertising there but I wouldn't watch her show anyway!

I agree it is a good way to advertise a tv show for free. I doubt very much if she is really interested in what we have to say.
yes its all a publicity stunt and boy do we the public fall for it.

She's a sellout getting rich from her info-mercials disguised as women's talkshows. She has a brilliant crew of writers, image consultants, spin doctors, analysts etc..- which she can afford to pay well- keeping the guise working. (hint:-"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"...)

I don't, she's a philanthropist and she has helped many people through her Angel Network as well as other organizations she sponsors. She doesn't need to advertise anything.
