The Bible is traditionally divided into 66 books for Protestants and 73 for Catholics and Orthodox Christians. Each further divided into chapters and verses. In today's English Bible, there are 929 chapters in the Old Testament and 260 chapters in the New Testament. This gives a total of 1,189 chapters (on average 18 per book). Not including deuterocanonical books, there are 23,145 verses in the Old Testament and 7,957 verses in the New Testament. This gives a total of 31,102 verses, which is an average of a little more than 26 verses per chapter. If, following Jewish tradition, the ascriptions to the Psalms are regarded as independent verses, there would be 116 more verses, but there is a well established practice of counting and numbering each Psalm ascription together with the next verse following it in the English Bible. As is noted below, a few other Hebrew Old Testament verse divisions differ in minor ways from those of the English.

The Bible is not 100% accurate but, there are some things to take into consideration before declaring the Bible an invalid source to believe in. You ask a lot of good questions.

There are some problems with the Bible and errors. Please remember, the Old Testament was passed down by oral tradition before the technology of writing was available. Compared to the Quran which existed long after the technology for writing was invented. So, yes there are errors.

Secondly, there are different ways to interpret based upon the "literary forms" of writers. Depending whether it is in a historical context, prophetic, poetry, or some other type of literary form. I believe Jesus Christ IS THE WORD of God. The Bible is written by people inspired by God.

If you took a Bible course and discovered what SCRIPTURAL TYPOLOGY is you would be amazed. If you knew what SALVATION HISTORY was in the Bible you would understand. If you recognized DIVINE AUTHORITY you would know that there has to be someone in authority to reveal the "secret" truths God has given. If you research all those phrases you will begin a journey of discovery that will last a life time.

We have a saying in Catholicism: the New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. There are many mysteries contained in the Bible that I have been amazed at discovering for the past 20 years and there is a whole lot more. St. Jerome said: Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. The whole Bible is about our SALVATION: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah you can discover 50 of them in cd's IT IS WRITTEN.

WHEN YOU HAVE BEGUN TO DISCOVER THESE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY MAN. Jesus (a historical figure along with others in the Bible that are not fictitional characters) by fulfilling just 50 prophesies makes the odds of doing that 10X135 power! An astronomical figure that could not have been achieved by human means.

The thing that might shock you and others is that SATAN used scripture to tempt Jesus. So, too Satan will use scripture to trip us up from following the true faith. This is why there has to be DIVINE AUTHORITY that passes from the Old Testament to APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION in the New Testament. This is why someone cannot Authoritatively pick up a Bible and correctly interpret it nor can there be millions of interpretors to HOLY SCRIPTURE. There can only be one!

It's not the quantity but the quality.
Let my explain you:

Have you ever wondered why in the Quran there are two aproaches ? The first part (when Mohamed was a poor man living in Mecca) is tolerant, while the second part when Mohamed lives in Medina is more violent and incites the muselim population to riot and rebelion against the "civilized" unbelievers. Do you think God change his plans so easy ?

Another interesting thing about you muselims is that you don't understand one thing. The idea of an all-powerful God (i think in your Quran is the same) does not need an army to convince others. The terrorists (the product of your religion) are dangerous people, killing innocent (israeli and western) children... etc.

Quran is not universal . Quran is available only in arabic ,Quran if it is translated from arabic ,loose its meaning . I dont thing God send his message in only one language . I dont think God wants us all to learn arabic to understand his word .He wouldnt create so manny languages if he wanted all of us to learn arabic ,thats why Quran cant be universal . By contrary Bible is real universal becouse has the ability to be translated to all languages of the world without loosing its meaning . The message from the Bible is clear Jesus is the Son of God ,The Truth and The Light ,the only Saviour of the human kind. It doesnt matter that english Bible have more or less words than a chinees Bible ,they both carry the same message . It doesnt matter that catholics makes the signt of the cross from left to the right and orthodox from right to the left ,these are small details without any relevance ,it matter that all christians believe according to any version of the Bible, that Jesus is Gods Son and the Saviour of people. Btw even if the words are different in manny version of the Biblle ( becouse all languages have different words ) the message is still the same in all Bibles ,no matter how hard u muslims try to attack the integrity of the Bible . The proof that Quran is not universal stand in the fact that Quran cant be translated in another language without loosing its meaning . This is the weakness of islam . And remember !! God doesnt speak only arabic !!

Here is a link to "The Amazing Bible World History Timeline":
http://agards-bible-timeline.com/q10_bible-facts.html The page includes all of the Old Testament Statistics and all of the New Testament Statistics.

There are three main areas of common ground upon which Christians may stand with Muslims. First, that there is one God—the Creator of all things. The second area is the fact that Jesus of Nazareth was a prophet of God. The Bible makes this clear: "And He shall send Jesus Christ,…For Moses truly said to the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up to you of your brethren, like to me; him shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say to you" (Acts 3:20–22). The Qur’an (Koran) says: "Behold! The angel said ‘O Mary! Allah giveth you Glad Tidings of a word from Him. His name will be (Christ Jesus) the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah’" (Surah 3:45). In Surah 19:19, the angel said to Mary, "I am only a messenger of thy Lord to announce to you a gift of a holy son." Surah 3:55 says, "Allah said: ‘O Jesus! I will take you and raise you to Myself."

This brings us to the third area of common ground. Muslims also respect Moses as a prophet of God. Therefore, there should be little contention when Christians speak of God (as Creator), Jesus the prophet, and the Law of the prophet Moses.

While you are comparing the Quran to the Bible, I will pray that you see the truth.

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
John 14:6

I don't think anyone bothered to count or cared either. Its more important to read the book than to count the words. Kind of says something about how poor the religion is that you have to be proud of how many chapters are in the book.

What is important here. I do not know, as it is the message, not the numbers that count.
