I have recently been given a violation notice and Yahoo won't say what I did wrong apart from saying it wasn't a question!! What are the alternatives? Do I shut up/fight the thought police or look for another provider? Is there some method of getting Yahoo to respond or should I go elsewhere? I like the jokes and riddles section but there are strange forces at work here.
I assume this is a question or at least a series of questions.

Seriously, forget all about it. I've lost count of the number of violations I've had. These days I really don't take any notice at all. There are an awful lot of fools on here who hit the abuse button for the silliest of reasons, it's just become part and parcel of the YA experience.

Do the violations mean you have to have limbs removed? Do they cause you great physical anguish? Or is it just general annoyance?

I've had a violation notice for correcting someone's appalling English. Trust me, it was well deserved, not my violation, the correction to their work. If someone is going to post a question in English, they should at least make it comprehendable.

However I also saw the funny side of it. So I lost a few points, big deal. Just to know that I'd got to them, that they'd paid enough attention to my words to do something about it... I consider it 1-0 to me.

It's true, Yahoo! aren't great about checking whether or not abuse claims are justified, but just look at the funny side of it, you're really annoying someone out there. And if they don't get the fact that the Jokes and Riddles page is not so much for questions, more for actual jokes, pick on one of the people giving bad answers on the page, the ones that say 'is this a question'? Look over their questions, be as critical as possible and report them if you find anything that seems wrong to you. Or just report them anyway.

I received a violation notice this morning for thanking people for the help that I was given. I am sure it was a question 'Can I say?). I sent an email, but I don't suppose I shall get a reply.
