Go to the doctor and get a prescription for antibiotics. Pimples are just little infections, so it's the best way to deal with them. You can't take it forever, but the doctor will be able to recommend something for you after the antibiotics. As far as I understand, Pro Active contains an antibiotic, but it won't penetrate the skin deep enough to cure really bad acne, that's why you need to ingest it for it to work. It will also get rid of bacne and acne in other places.

I would get a second opinion. what type of medications did the dermo give you? If your acne is severe or cystic you will most likely need an oral medication to clear it up. There is a ton of differnet things they can give you, and I mean a ton, because I think I was on every possible thing for acne. I had horrible acne for 14 years, so believe me I do know how you are feeling. Pro active didn't work for me, it's basically just Benzoyl Peroxide (aka Oxy) and that stuff always made my skin worse. But everyone is different and some people swear by it. But really, if it doesn't help find another doctor, one who is really going to listen and care enough about finding something that actually works for you instead of just writng a bunch of scripts for stupid creams which don't help. Nowadays acne is treatable, and it sounds like it is having a big negative impact on your self esteem, and you shouldn't have to put up with acne when a good doctor can treat you. Best of luck.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

I did a few years ago. Did your doctor ever prescribe any medication, like tetracycline?
Keep trying products and you might think about going to a second doctor for another opinion. Drink lots of water too.
Don't be embarrassed and don't become seclusive because of it. It will get better and any decent person understands and won't judge you harshly just because you have acne.

My self assurance became terrible and that i became embrassed to take photos. yet finally, my physician gave me a medicine called Benzaclin Clindamycin gel.... you choose a prescription for this drugs even nevertheless it works!! And it quite is a splash pricy, yet once you have insurance it won't be a topic. I even have tried professional-lively and it purely works the 1st 2 months and then it does not

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html

i did in high school, and i have a few scars at 22, but really, i don't care about it now. people notice it a lot less than you think they do. and look on the bright side... if you can't depend on your pretty face for a date, then you get a chance to work on the rest of your personality.

it's so simple. your body has acne because it's so far behind in getting rid of waste. so it shows up on your skin (probably as a last resort).
take a laxative....prune juice or some drug store laxative. a good steam once in awhile wouldn't hurt....it opens your pours so you can clean really well.
