A really good flash gives you all kinds of new possibilities, especially if you can bounce it off something. Direct flash is horrible! But don't forget that daylight is still the best. If you haven't got one already, invest in a reflector, like the one from lastolite. Reflected sunlight is just beautiful, especially for portraits.
But, yeah, have fun!

Shows how much I know. I didn't know people ordered flashes for their cameras. I do like photography, since it's art.

Yes, you lucky girl...I've just gotten a new toy myself and I'm looking forward to getting out in the world armed with my Nikon later today. Isn't it great that the words "point and shoot" sometimes have nothing to do with guns?
