well a running start is always interesting, especially if there is a slip-and-slide involved...
but i'd recommend anything that puts you in a good mood and relaxes you. music, entertainment of sorts, telling a funny story about your day, sharing an interesting thought you had, etc.
then maybe move on to saying something you like about the other person ("i love it when you..." etc.) then onto a backrub, hand massage, play with hair, etc.

a clean new sheets , a bath , some candles , nice perfume on the bed , a babydoll , a kiss at the door and slow dance while taking his cloth off till get to bath and by the way we all like 69 so start by doing that for a min.
