Usually an 'expert' is one who knows alot about a particular subject by having real world experience in that field but no formal training. Usually takes years to be an 'expert'.
A 'professional' usually has a degree/certificate/or other tangible proof of training and competence in a field. You can have HR 'professionals' running around fresh out of grad school that have never made any real decisions, but they are considered professionals because they have that o so important piece of paper :P

You can be an expert in anything, not just things to do with jobs (A plumber could be a Greek History expert, but would not be a professional, however a Greek history professor would be both expert & professional).
You can also be an expert without receiving anything for it, a professional is paid.
