Very little good benefits from soy despite the big marketing here and in the US.

Firstly it contains phytates which inhibit mineral absorption. A friend of mine's osteoporosis is attributed by her health practitiioner to the ingestion of soy milk on a regular basis. Bone needs calcium, magnesium, boron, manganese, etc.
Soy inhibits this uptake of minerals.

If soy is fermented as in miso then the phytates are deactivated.
But keep away from soy milk, tofu and other unfermented soy products

Soy milk is superior to cows milk for human consumption.
The benefits are: no saturated fat in soy-milk as is found in dairy products. Since Soy milk is from a bean it provides clean, plant protien that the body can easily assimulate in the system, unlike cows-milk which causes mucus and sometimes allergies, the lactose in cows-milk is hard to digest in most people.

F.Y.I. in response to Jacky yes Soy is superior to milk just take a look at any baby milk formulas and your protien powders for work out shakes they are all soy-based!

soy convertes to estrogen in the body!! its not healthy in large quantities for anybody. Goat milk is your best bet from a health point of view. If not into goat milk, go low fat organic cow milk.

You lose weight because you drink less of it. (that is if you can get it past your lips because of the foul smell and you can swallow it because of its horrible taste!)
