For instance, God walked and talked with Adam and Eve. During their close relationship with Him, He gave them specific instructions (Genesis 2:15-17; 3:2-3). Yet they chose to disobey and then attempted to hide themselves from Him (Genesis 3:8-10).

Or, how about in the time with Moses and the people of ancient Israel? "So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend" (Exodus 33:11). God attempted to establish a similarly direct relationship with the Israelites. Moses recorded what happened. "The LORD talked with you face to face on the mountain from the midst of the fire. I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to declare to you the word of the LORD; for you were afraid because of the fire, and you did not go up the mountain" (Deuteronomy 5:4-5).

But they begged for more distance. They didn't even want to hear His voice. They trembled at God's power. Did they keep to following His commands? No. Nor do you who denies His power.

Because people are not aware of or oblivious that God has revealed Himself through His creation, through Jesus Christ and now through the body of Christ, His church.

To believe in a God one must have faith. If God revealed Itself, then Faith would no longer be an element of belief and the mystery of life would no longer be a mystery.

Believers have to have Faith.

Non believers have no Faith in God and that makes living in the temporal world an easier task. No retribution by an unknown power.. just birth, life and death.. boink.

The reports in the Bible are wishful thinking and I've seen no evidence that the reporters had a direct line beyond the temporal. It's the word of people and those people seek to dominate the so called Faithful.

Any God worth his salt would let people do what they wanted.

How would a 'thing' that encompasses the universe, transcends time, and is all knowing and all present reveal itself? How would it even think? An all knowing creature that transcends time isn't even a creature and would be incapable of though and emotion. It couldn't even be a being, as that would make it inferior in size to the universe. God would have to BE the universe and everything greater than the universe, all time, all space, all possibilities.

Any god that could even be seen by humans or detect would be a sub god, and would lead to the question 'what created that god?'.

Has it ever occured to ANY of the people who post these questions that the bible is just a book written by man? And doesn't it strike you all as odd that the bible's stories are remarkably similar to old myths of earlier civilizations?

One thing that you need to understand is that people who don't believe in the religions those stories are from don't believe those stories to be true either. Using those stories to answer questions of non-believers doesn't really answer the questions, not in our view.

When people ask why God doesn't reveal himself and you answer with a story from the Bible about how he revealed himself to Adam and Eve thousands of years ago and they still disobeyed, non-believers just don't take that as a valid answer because they think the story about Adam and Eve is a myth in the first place.

Do you understand what I mean?

Nice try, but If God was real, He would indeed show himself, since so many do not believe. And the bible is nothing but one person's version of how life was or should be. Adam and Eve didn't really exist, and Moses had no proof that God talked to him. Proof is necessary for most to believe.

First of all, ancient stories which have no proof of ever being more than the creation of a crazed mind really mean little as proof.

As for those of you who say well I will believe in god when he comes to me in the flesh and blood, first of all I doubt it. You would probably say "well if you are god, do this and that and this and this". Secondly, if we are to have faith in god, we can't really know he exists outside of that faith until it has been forged. Like they said in Constantine, when he says he has faith after he saw hell, you don't have faith in god, you know he exists. I mean really, how many of you have faith that there is a pope, whether you believe him or not, you know he exists.
