Hi there again... are you asking with regards to toilet training your cat on the human toilet? Your previous question references to lessening the litter in the pan which is a step in the human toilet training process for cats. If it is, cats will hold their excrement if the training is progressing too quickly. You will need to back up a step to help them until they feel confident with that level of the toilet training process.

She's holding it because she's not mentally ready for this step just yet. Consider going back a step or two until she consistently is pooping in the the toilet with the pan filled with litter. Defecating (pooping) is the hardest part of the training for cats. The reason is because they have to find the proper stances/footing on the toilet seat in order to balance themselves because when they defecate they arch upward and will wobble. On a narrow ledge this can be mentally difficult for them to overcome so you have to wait it through it until they become more comfortable before moving forward.

Here's a website which provides the steps of toilet training for cats: http://www.karawynn.net/mishacat/toilet.html

I found a toilet training forum for cats: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/kitty_on_the_toilet/ People exchange ideas here as well as experiences and perhaps you'll find some useful tips from all the current and past discussions here.

Try to contact local vet offices and explain the cat's symptoms and your finances. Most vets (in the US anyway) are pretty sympathetic toward the animal and will allow you to pay slowly on a sliding scale or give a cut cash rate. You may also try contacting the SPCA if you have them in your area. They are a wonderful non-profit organization that will help pet owners in dire situations. I'm not a vet, but I wouldn't wait since it is NOT normal for your cat not to need to eliminate waste if he (she) is eating and drinking as usual. Serious complications can arise quickly in small animals if health problems are not taken care of rather quickly.

She is doing it somewhere in the house. Cats don't like to be seen when they "go". Sniff around - you will find it.
