My son is 9 years old and he was conceived either during our divorce (we were trying to work things out) or shortly after. We also have a 13 year old boy as well. This @#*@#* was in the delivery room when the second child was born, signed the birth certificate, has provided health insurance for all 9 years, but since he is not included in the divorce decree used to give me money here and there and buy clothes for him like for birthdays and Christmas. This child was born with Cerebral Palsy and the "father" has never been comfortable taking care of him...so he claims. He is remarried with one daughter and another one on the way. This past Sunday he asked me for a blood test, which he has never done before. I was wondering if anyone knew if under the law he would still be held responsible no matter what. Yes, he is the father!

Once he signed the LEGAL birth certificate, he became the legal father of that child. A birth cert. is a legal document. If he wants to pay for a paternity test, let him flip out the bucks, it's just going to be a waste. In the meantime, I would be back in the court asking for extra money considering your sons illness. God bless you!

I have heard of cases where someone who had been paying child support for over ten years PROVED with DNA testing the child wasn't his, but was still stuck with child support payments.
The law usually benefits the woman involved.
I have heard that http://www.supportkids.com are TOUGH, at seeking child support. You might want to contact them.
