Well, if she loves you, of course it is going to hurt her. But, it is doing her a favour to break up with her now, rather than to hold on, not wanting to hurt her. You both need to move on and the sooner you can start, the better. Just simply say to her, in person, "I think we should stop seeing each other." Don't take her out to dinner first, that will make her think you love her and will make it more upsetting and harder for both of you. You are obviously a very caring person, not wanting to hurt her feelings. Kudos to you!

It's going to hurt her, but the best way I have been broken up with was face to face and directly. Don't use a line or place blame. Say "I don't feel that we should be together anymore." When she starts to cry or get angry answer her questions honestly and after a little bit tell her you need to go. Don't say that you "still want to be friends"..let that be up to her if she decides she still wants to be your friend when she is not so heartbroken.

Obviously in person. But, no matter what, both of you will get hurt. You'll break up with her and then in about a week you will be hurt but she'll be hurt asap. Just tell her you'll be there no matter what, if she ever needs to talk, that you care for her but it just isn't working out. Take her to lunch and just be civil.

Just be honest not mean, but do it as soon as you can because it will hurt more the longer you wait. Just do it in person. No matter what, It is hard but you both will go on with your lives.
