Chihuahuas will usually love to wear sweaters.. Just put it on her very gently while you are cuddling with her..Never associate it with yelling at her, or she will always hate it..but, put it on and tell her how pretty she looks..as soon as she seems desperate to get it off, then gently help her get it off..so she isn't afraid of it..I used to breed Chihuahuas, and yes, they need a sweater any time that a person does..

I adopted a 3 year old chi. And the first time I put a sweater on him he froze...like a statue. He would not move, it was rather funny because he is a usually a ball of energy. He was not use to wearing one and afraid. I left it on for alittle and then took it off. I did this several times until he got use to wearing it. Again as with most things with pet, patience is key. He now has several sweaters, a coat , and several harness vests.( the harness vests are WONDERFUL !) Anyway good luck, it just takes some time.
And for those who think it is stupid to put a sweater on chi's, read up on the breed. Because they are so small their metabolisom is different. They loose heat faster and love to be warm.

My chihuahua used to love wearing clothes as a puppy but in the last few months decided he doesn't like putting them on. The funny thing is once they're on, he doesn't want to take them off. Anyway, I just reward him with lots of praise and a treat once they're on, so he associates it with something positive. We're getting there slowly but surely.
And for the people that say chis don't need clothes...if you were under 5lbs, and had barely any hair, and lived somewhere with cold winters, trust me...you'd want warm clothes!!!

I have a yorkie and he loves clothes. I've had him wearing them since he was a pup. Now when I get a sweater out for him to wear he automatically jumps on the bed and sits, waiting on me to put it on him. Then when I get ready to take it off him at night he fights me because he likes it on. I taught mine young to like clothes so now hes used to them.

Keep it simple. Just put a simple sweater on her. No frilly ties and buttons and skirts and what not. She really only needs to wear a sweater when she's going outside to pee.

Don't worry just pop a nice simple jacket on her and the clothes you buy keep the recite for and then return them if she doesn't like them.

you have to train your dog by making it wear the clothes time after time.
eventually, it'll stop trying to rip the clothes apart and get used to wearing it.
