Before you guys start yelling this has nothing to do with me being racist because I am NOT racist. However my father's family is very racist and I have to constantly hear about home my mother is a N***** lover ... I really do not believe that blacks and whites should mix because I have seen some of my closest friends go through loads of problems and where we live when they figure out what my mom is doing then she could be in lots of danger. What should I do??

While I don't like the idea of mixing the races, I have known some nice couples who were in mixed marriages. We are living in the 21st century and things are changing. Most my black friends don't want any white woman dating their men. Most my white friends don't want to date black men. However, in our extended family, there is a white man married to a black woman. We have had to accept it. Either you accept the facts as they are or you will lose the person you love.

Your mother is an adult, for quite some time now. She do not need any ones approval to date who ever she wants. She lives for herself, she is doing what her heart is telling her to do. Love has no color, no boundaries, we need more people like her and maybe the world could get along and be one big happy family, things would probably fall in place.Your mom is a big girl she knows the pros and cons of being in a interracial relationship, and you have to be a strong person to get through those negative obstacles, and very opinionated people. So anyone with a problem on this subject, remember this: YOUR OPINION does not count. HAVE FAITH AND PRAY ABOUT, because if it's not meant to be the LORD will step in and take care of it.

Ones Race or Gender should make no difference in true love. If there are problems with it, then either move where there are not or cope with them educating others through actions, not so much words... that real true love can exist outside the barrier of race (or gender) bi having a happy, nutually-respectful, open, honest, selfless, God-centered, loving relationship. Actions will change even the hardest of hearts instead of being in thier face. This is the year 2006, not 1956, so race should no longer be such an issue... that kind of intolerant hatred is stemming from ignorance and those insecure of their own self-worth is my guess.

I do not know your age... but your mother's decision to marry
has given you an opportunity to grow and mature and see who your friends really are. If your mother is in love and the man she chose loves her... you should be glad for your mother and it sounds like your support would be appreciated. It is not easy to stand up and be counted especially when others belittle you as weak because you do not accept their prejudices or judgements of your mom... don't judge a book by it's cover or others opinons. Give your step dad a chance to prove... love can conquer- overcome hateful attitudes. You might say a prayer, and find someone/ group (school-church) that is multi ethnic and discover a common ground for communication and support of peers... this will take some courage to move past any fears of what others might think or say... it will be well worth the risk to discover new friends... they come in all colors you know!

If you love your mother...let her be happy and be happy for her.

If races shouldnt mix then God would have made it impossible for reproduction. Donkey+Horse=Mule

If not for the mixing of races half the world would not exist (that may even go for you.)

If race is a factor over love then we're all F**Ked

Again be there for your mother. Stop evil in its tracks. Give hate no quarter. And yes...get the hell outta Redneckville, USA. Get out and see the world.

You dont want to end up like the morons who surround you, who obviously have never left home.

I'm a black female, your family is ignorant for one. Two I have bi-racial nieces and nephews and the way I see it: everyone in this world is mixed up anyway because African Americans aren't that particular label anyway. I have to fight to survive everyday and what makes us think that any of us won't have to anyway. If your mother is happy all she needs is your support and if your step-dad's family adores her and respects her for the person she is instead of her skin color then screw the ignorant ones!! Life is to short for that madness tell them this is 2006 not 1960, and get over it.

Let's get something straight 1st and foremost you should want your mother to be happy. And it doesn't f***ing matter if your in mixed relationship or the couple is same f***ing color relationships are hard period it has nothing to with "mixing races" grow up and respect the fact that your mother is happy and its going to be very hard for her if you don't support her in her decisions. OH BY THE WAY TELL YOUR FATHER TO GO F*** HISSELF!!!!

It's your mom's life. If she wants to marry this man, so be it. There isn't anything you can do about it. You just have to accept it.
What you believe and what she believes is two different things. When you get married, you can marry who ever you want. But she is doing what she wants.
