I went to university there and am desperate to go back, but I can't get a work permit without having a job offer in hand. Any ideas of employers who will hire foreigners over Canadians? My degree was in Liberal Arts.
P.S. I will apply to become a resident once I'm there, but I'm impatient to get there.

Homeland Security has just reported (this past week) that it will be necessary for Canadians & Mexicans to have passports to enter the US.

If you do go & become a Canadian resident, make sure that you can "prove" you're a US citizen & be able to back it up with documentation, if you ever want to reenter the US. You might want to check this out before you go, just to be on the safe side.

Good luck.

NancyL,
to go to Canada you also need a passport
but for you to be able to work in Canada, you need to contact the Canadian immigration (you might want to check if you have a Canadian consulat near you
show proof that you were in school in Canada
that will be a big help

(BY the way you ask a ? about your mom is she in Canada
if so she have no need to worried she entitle to stay and work or even get welfare if she needs it and also the gov will take the money for her husband **soon to be X ** she will and is entitle to all that she will have gotten if she was in the US the best thing the Canadian Gov is very aggressive in helping women better than the US )
