Why is he so hands-off non-existant today? Or even since the very early medieval times (as is believed to be when Christ was on earth)?

There are countless stories where God and (fill in the blank) are shown to talk back and forth like two humans would. So if that was the case, why does he not do so today?

He isn't. He is the same today as He was back in bible days. He talks with people today. He guides people, leads people. He answers prayers, He performs miracles.

The same Jesus who walked the shores of Galilee walks among us today. Did all believe then? No. Did all pay attention to His voice? No. Did all follow Him? No.

I pray that God would give us listening ears and an open heart!!!

God bless!!

Back then people followed Torah and were more willing to obey God than today. Jews choose Talmud over Torah. Christians abolish Torah altogether. And those of other religions refuse to acknowledge the God of Abraham. And so today God doesn't talk to as many as He once did. Not as many are willing to obey Him and follow His commandments.

The problem isn't that God is hands off, the problem is humans aren't holy enough for God to talk to.

If you read the first few chapters of the First Book of Samuel, you will find exactly the same comment.
