While most newer vehicles have a steel bar to prevent the use of a coat hanger, you can still use a Slim Jim on most vehicles, or access the lock bar through the door handle with a steel rod (a coat hanger is too flimsy for this). If you have power locks, you may get a coat hanger between the glass and weather stripping to activate the lock. I hate to say it, but this question reminds me of the one about the blond that called the police for help when she locked her keys in the car. When they said they'd send a unit out to help, she asked them to hurry because it was starting to rain and the top was down.

What year is it? You can usually use a coathanger, marshmallow roasting forks(the wire ones) or a Slim Jim if you can find one. Get your wire into a hook shape, slide it down into the door next to the window, it should be parallel to the lock. You should be able to catch the locking mechanism and unlock the door. Locksmiths are like $35-120 if you're lucky.

do you have AAA or a road service company?
otherwise - a 24 hr locksmith can get into your car - perhaps some wrecker companies will
or your car's manufacturer - dealer - can make an extra key for you if you provide them with the VIN number

if you have the entry key pad on the side of the lf door and know your code, this will unlock the door without a key.
