A cold is a virus. Which can be caught by someone else coughing in his face, or him touching something, not keeping his hands clean, and touching his mouth. This is the most common. You can't. Children develop coughs and colds easier than adults. Even though it seems like they're always sick, their bodies are actually building up their immune systems by exposure to various viruses and bacteria. Once exposed, the body builds natural defenses to combat the illness and should they be exposed again, the body stands a higher chance of fighting the illness.

well you really cant i dont know how old your kid is but im guessing it goes to school you can get the kid to wash its hands more but thats pretty much all you can suggest, give it vitamin c. as long as your child is near other children it will catch things and the flu and cold are airborn so theres not much you can do. get some antibacterial soap and robitussin but get the robitussin that doesnt have sleepy stuff in it coz then your kid will build up an immunity to meds and you dont want that.
