I have alot of friends in public school and definately have the chance of being very popular and enjoying my highschool years more

academically, the school i am currently attending has a very good reputation and would look great on college applications

the only thing is that there are a ton of rich snobby gossip girls there
I have good friends, but I hate trying to cope with the other people

highschool is supposed to be the "golden years"
well, for me, in private school, not being rediculously rich; it SUCKS

should I switch?? I don't want to leave my friends behind but we would still talk and hang out... and public school would just make my life 100% easier...

I was homeschooled for years. 1-7th grade. I am now at a public Charter school. I love it. I go only two days a wekk and my school has the highest API score in my county (county is NOT a typo). There are plenty of good options for education besides snobby private schools and corrupt public schools- I would suggest looking for a charter school in your area. They're GREAT!.

Darling, only losers consider high school their golden years.

Even college is not the golden years (maybe if you're a psyche major).

The golden years are when you're 24 making $72K/year because you have an excellent education with useful skills, and you're all done with studying and finals. Instead you spend your nights driving up to excellent restaurants and incredible clubs in a Mercedes convertible that YOU own, and spending the evening with rich beautiful men fawning all over you.

Those are the golden years dear. So get the best education you possibly can and stop worrying about little girl loser sh*t.

depends on if you've already chosen a path you want. will getting into a college that holds the snobby school in high regards aim you where you want to go? or will getting into a college with someone you're really close with now be your goal. people change. your mind will change even after you've made your decision. but, listen to yourself more. my best friend, who was at a rather acknowledged private school changed to public for her last year of highschool, and i don't think she regrets it at all. aside from not learning as much as she thought she could have at the other place. but, she's a singer, and already had college lined up, and took arts most of the year. and, just cos you're going to a different school doesn't mean your friends there would have to change. if they do, then it's just cos it was supposed to. change is going to happen whichever you choose. if you know yourself well enough, then you've already got your decision made. if not, well, there's lots of things to think about, nothing to worry about.

You might find that the public school has negative things to deal with too. I would stick it out for one more year where you are and if you can't bear it try to change over next year. If you can endure where you are, you will be glad when the time comes to apply for college, and you will have the best years in college instead of highschool. That's the way it was for me....

Sweetheart... High school is not your golden years. College is.

High School is a bittersweet mixture of pleasure and pain for everyone... BUT the rich and popular! But they just make the best of everything. Which is exactly what I am talking about...They have life skills that you're going to have to suffer to get, but they are so worth it in the end. and if your regular friends love you, they will always be there for you no matter what!

Anyway... I have this theory that explains why you SHOULD stay right where you are... You more than likely want to leave because you are jealous (come on now admit it!) and you have, in turn, allowed them the right to make you feel inferior? Every group has to have a scapegoat... Tag you're it!

Now for my theory...

When people exfoliate their skin...It comes off their bodies and flies around in the air... no?

When it does that, we tend to actually breathe in, the company we keep on microscopic levels. Basically taking in the people we are in close contact with and share minute, microscopic bits of their DNA...

That is what the old expression "Birds of a feather flock together." essentially means.

You are your friends, and they are you... Maybe you are just not comfortable with your role in their little eco system because you don't completely understand it yet?

Trust me... in this life, and in this day and age... it is not always morally better to be in with the higher classes and masses... but it will be better for you in the future...

In college, everything gets ironed out and everyone... rich, poor, smart, dumb... all get lumped together and are taught by association to learn how to deal with accept and tolerate one another...

It isin't right to be a snob, but... it is good to be one! Like it or not, it is the mindset that creates the American way, and in that system you either sink or swim. Be a swimmer and stay where you are.

Learn to use them to your advantage and be smarter than them. Enjoy the resources, the perks, the programs and the privlidges and learn to not feel guilty for having them because the group that makes it easier on you (probably because they are lower than you are to a certain extent) accepts you, even though they don't have the privlidges you do?

You deserve the best in life... and you don't see it now, but unless you decide to go the alturistic, under paid, overworked social worker route as opposed to the lawyer or the doctor... Stick with the rich snobs! You don't have to be one inside, you just need to learn how to blend in with them... They are after all the rulers of society as we know it! Unfortunate, but true!

You'll thank me later on if you decide to stick right where you are but keep your good friends close...The ones that tend to idolize you and do not make you work for their affections and earn the right and privlidge of being close enough to share their precious little bits of self!

Trust me, high school is not the golden years - they usually suck for most people, so I dont know where you are getting your ideas....
But trust me, I went to both - stick with the private school, it will open your life to more opprotunities in the future, and thats all you really have in front of you, right?

Don't sacrifice a future for a few freinds now, that you wont have in a couple of years

Stick it out in private school! Ten years from now, with a good college degree and a good job you'll be glad you did.

You can still keep in touch with your public school friends, and just ignore the bitchy rich ones. I'm sure there are bitchy ones in public school too.

you have to decide if you are going to build some career later on so that you would have to go thrue the whole pain in private school or if you are not planning to do a lot of schooling after high school, then switch to public school and enjoy!!!

call me crazy, but i would switch to public school. In my experience-It may not have been the best in comparison to other schools (especially private) but the fun i had, the people i met, and the experiences i had were priceless. I wouldn't trade it for anything. That's me. As for you, you have to weigh your options and see what's right for you education or public school education a.k.a. fun. either way though, you'll be alright.
