The differences between the two sets have diminished as the quality of each has improved. However, the main differences between them are as follows:

LCD's are lighter and therefore easier to move. They also consume less power and can be found in small sizes. They also generally can have a higher resolution in a smaller size. LCD's can generally be repaired if the backlight were to go bad.

Plasmas come in larger sizes(although the gap has shrunk dramatically as LCD prices have dropped and technology has improved). They are generally cheaper for the same screen size and have a better contrast ratio, better colors and a wider viewing angle. Plasma manufacturers have had a difficult time producing sets at a full 1080p resolution so sets with this resolution are much more difficult to find than their LCD counterparts. Plasmas are very difficult to repair and generally are not worth the cost of repair if something were to go wrong with the set.

A note: you will likely get responses saying that LCD is better because they don't burn in. This is a non-issue as plasma technology has improved to a point where burn in is no longer a concern as it was when plasmas where first introduced.

I like the LCD TV because they look as good as the Plasma and cost a lot less.

To add to what the other person said, plasma only lasts 10 years.
