for some reason nobody dares to say that the war in Iraq is a religious war between two muslim factions. this is just like the religious wars in europe centuries ago between the catholics and protestants in which many were slaughtered and it never really ended. They call it sectarian violence and not a "civil war" but it is not a civil war between two political factions trying to take over rhe country. these factions do not fight each other as in a war. they each take turns killing the civilians of the opposite religion. the warring parties never engage in battles. Is it some kind of wierd modern political correctness to not say what it is? A religious war is nothing new. These people do not want to take over the government. They want to eliminate the other type religion but were previously prevented from doing so by the strong arm of dictator Saddan Hussein. Now they are free to fight. I say let them fight. We cannot stop them or control the outcome or protect them from each other.

I don't think the war is a religious war. I think religion is being used to incite and motivate the masses to fight for political gain and tribal conquest. There are leaders in Iraq, hidden in the shadows, pulling the strings on their followers. It's not paranoia, it's the truth. It's a huge power struggle at this point with a religious back drop.

One thing is clear, America is all but helpless in Iraq right now. There is no military goal that can be won at this point. It's difficult for me to see that, but it's true I fear.

I think its more a war between disarmed civilians and armed malitias. While Saddam allowed his civilians to be armed (suprise) we went in and disarmed them.

Come to find out, the cities we disarmed are now the cities being invaded by the malitias. The criminals KNOW they can go into any and every home in some cities because they KNOW the people are disarmed.

Same concept as if you disarmed america, giving free run to the armed street gangs. Add politics & islam i nthe mix and you have more violence than you can imagine.

*If we armed EVERYONE in iraq, the violent gangs would be destroyed faster than you can imagine, and the peaceful majority can get back to life. We would also see an amazing democratic transformation.

It's not called a religion war because people might start thinking that God should show some involvement being that all religions are based on God. So it's called Sectarian War or Jihad. You'll never hear the news media call it religion war.

I agree, let em have it out. But religion is only an estimated 5 percent of it (NPR analyst) it's a power struggle plain and simple. The average diaper head understands only one thing...power.
