You know you're dreaming and you can sometimes control what you do...Like me, If it's a scary dream i will some how kill myself to wake up. eh....this sounds weird.

Have you ever had a dream like this?
What's it called?

Lucid dreams and controling the dreams in your mind are different things. In both, you can control the dream, but a lucid dream is going on outside of you.

Dream control is a learned thing: I'm willing to bet you had nightmares as a child, and through imposing your own will, you learned how to make certain situations stop or change.

I've done this since I was 4; my dad told me how so I could get rid of my reoccuring nightmare. Been doing it ever since.

I've had many lucid dreams as well - they are indeed different.

Lucid dreaming can feel scary, but when you truly think about it, think how great our imaginations are! I decided long ago, it was a way for my sub-conscious mind to UN mix different emotions that were going on in my real life in NO real order. I think a lot of people with this GREAT trait do dream of death. But the death thought should maybe be an ending of something, or a new beginning. You always wake up right? Either way, to have such a trait, you have to own such an imagination, and the intelligence to make it all come together. I feel I am "gifted". Since it's a quality that everyone doesn't have, you should also consider your self GIFTED!!

i love Dreaming, i know a lot of people that don't remember their dreams or say that they don't dream. But really Everyone dreams it just depends on wether you remember them or not. I have also had Lucid Dreams, I like them. Especially when they are scary, cause then you just wake up. I don't like falling dreams, my whole body convulses and I wake up before I fall....thank god.

Not sure what it is called but I have had dreams like that, where you need to get out, and then you wake up, or keep trying to wake up to get out of the dream.

Lucid Dream!

That's very nice! But it's hard to happens to me, unfortunatelly!
When that occurs, you may do whatever you want! Even if you can only control yourself, try to give you some superpowers! Try to fly away from the situation, or blast everyone around you! Wow, that's really cool :D

We would be capable to do that only closing our eyes and thinking, but our mind is attached to parameters of reality that don't let us to break free, and only when we're partially asleep we can act like that.

if you are lucid enough to control the dream, (knowing that killing yourself will wake you up) why not just fix whatever's scaring you in the dream?

yeah I know, it's like the fear factor almost woke you up but you decided to sleep on and finish the story for yourself.

I think subconcious reminds us of our fears but our concious half-awake state fixes that for us.

I remember as a kid I used to go back to sleep even if I woke up with a nightmare just to finish it with a "happy ending" :)
