Plasmodium parasites also undergo stages of development. There is a certain stage in their life cycle that they will have to go to a female mosquito body part to propagate and become the phase that is transmitted to humans through feeding. The same goes true also that female mosquitoes are the ones that bite and feed especially at night.Hope this helps. God bless

Perhaps only the females feed. They have to pick up the plasmodium from an animal host, so if only females take blood meals, that would explain it.

The female bites and sucks blood, thats why. Male anopheles mosquitoes have large antennae, which prevents them from biting also, their proboscis, that is the 'injecting needle' is not structured anatomically that can allow them to suck human blood. So they cannot. They just feed on juices from certain fruits and flowers only. So only females bite and suck blood. SO TRUE FOR ALL THE SPECIES, INCLUDING HUMANS.
