No. 1) Why the heck wouldn't you be able to? It's not like the piercer has to thread the needle through your teeth to pierce your tongue.
No. 2) I had braces when I got my tongue pierced and I had no ill side effects. However, I have good oral hygiene and I followed all instructions to the letter.

We both know that braces traps in more food than teeth alone. So, brush your teeth, use your proxibrush, and swish with the special mouth rinse they tell you to get. Also, don't smoke/drink during the time frame that they tell you to abstain (I don't smoke, but I have a horror story from a friend that's too long to account here). Okay? Okay!

Sheesh. Girl have some self respect. Get him a tie or some cologne and he can wait till the braces are off before you get a tongue piercing.

Your dentist might be upset about it, especially when you go for follow-up work.

The trouble with tongue-piercing is that you have to keep your mouth VERY clean to prevent infections. I'm talking gargling with Listerine every time you put anything in your mouth that isn't water. For a week. The complication with braces is that stuff tends to get stuck in them during the day, and I don't know that Listerine will get it all out.

My child wants to get his/her tongue pierced. Will this interfere with orthodontic treatment?
Tongue-piercing jewelry may contribute to breakage of appliances and to tooth and gum damage from contact with the stud.

i've got my tongue done and i no how that felt, your tongue swells up heaps for about 3 days, but i don't have braces. i'd go talk to a body piercer first!
