Hey you made me think of a question...how can Jesus be the son of God-the seed of David...which according to one answer means the lineage...

Wouldnt that just make Jesus the seed of Adam? I mean... where does David come from...Adam rite.... lots of contradiction in there....

Oh, and Dave sounds like such a lovely common name for the almighty... I woulda picked something like that too as to not draw attention to myself

This is a rather controversial topic among various denominations and groups of Christians. One answer, which I see as the most accurate and certainly suggested from these verses, is that Jesus Christ was both fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, but his mother Mary was human, and the legendary King David was a direct ancestor of her. Therefore, Jesus is both the Son of God and the indirect son of David. Also, in answer to another question, the fact that it says he is the seed of David (as opposed to say Adam or Noah) is because David was the greatest king of Israel. His descendants were supposed to rule the throne forever, and Jesus is to be the fulfilling of that (in one way or another, which is also debatable).

Being the "son of God" is a symbolic relationship. Another famous person was also God's Son, Solomon King of Israel. Though he still had a biological father, King David, Solomon went futher in his relationship with God. Instead of just being a worshipper, he chose to accept God and his spiritual Father, in turn God declared Solomon as His Son. (ref 1 Chr 17:13)

So, Yeshua's father was truly Joseph, who was a descendant of King David. So what is in Acts would be true, Yeshua is of the seed (of offspring) of David while having a symbolic fatherly relationship with God. So, he was fully a man, not a god incarnate. The book of Mathew lists the lineage of Mary and Luke lists the lineage of Joseph.

So, no, God's name is not David. It is hebrew, found in many places in scripture. Its spelled with the hebrew letters Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey and is pronounced "Yah-oo-ah".

Break out a fricking history book! To make Jesus more likable, they stated that Mary is a descendant of King David, even though Mary was a peasant. Aligning yourself with royalty is a political move to gain favor of the people. The link is inferred to be matriarchal, but again, later in the bible it says that he was raised by a poor carpenter Joseph.

Jesus's lineage was through David. That is why he was referred to as "the son of David".

The messiah (Jesus) was to come through the lineage of King David, If you trace the genealogy it goes back to him, if want you can go further back & trace his descendants back to Abraham.

LOL Sure why not.

Interestingly, historians believe that David wasn't near as spectacular as the Bible makes him out to be.
