The first one has to do with the Trojan war, you know, they brought the horse as a gift, and the ransacked the place.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth is almost the same as beggars can't be choosers. You can tell a lot about a horse's overall health by their oral health, and if someone gave you a horse, and you inspected it in front of the person giving it to you, you are saying you don't trust them, and are in essence insulting them.

Both are about the Trojan wars. They were Greek hiding in a Trojan horse and were let into the city because it was thought a gift until they all jumped out and killed them
